I guess you're right. Putting music into genres often makes it less appealing to some people and limits the possible fanbase.

First wave of black metal?

I remember when this album was first released. We called it black metal back in the old days.

Uhhh who cares about what genre it is. True metalheads appreciate the music... not the genre.
Just live and let rock! \,,/(-_-)\,,/

muntheraqel (October 12, 2008 at 12:48 pm)
wtf they're black metal not thrash or death

So nobody seems to know what genre this is? I don't know either, it's not quite black metal, maybe a little doom metal, folk influences definitely, nothing seems particularly thrash about it. I don't like the terms Viking Metal, or Battle Metal, modern metal fans have labelled lots of old music as that, which is annoying.

If you let commercialism affect what you like, then you're just as bad as those who only like mainstream stuff. If your taste doesn't allow you to appreciate any dimmu songs, it doesn't mean you are somehow a more intriguing person.
