I completely understand wat you are saying True Blue..I was aiming for the people that wear their hats at 45 degrees not the working man. I too have many a cap I favor. My wearing the traditional hat is just a way to let people know..We are still here! God bless brother

Ha, well I wear a baseball cap 90% of the time, and though a cowboy hat is a damn mighty handy piece of gear, specially when Im putting long hours on my colts, it dont do much good when im training em in the round pen or doing work around the ranch, gets in the way most of the time, besides, a working cowboy or a horseman like myself dont need to wear a certain hat 24/7 to prove what he is.

I think we need more cowboys in the U.S. these days. (We're getting too soft for my liking).

I still make custom cowboy hats and dress the part all week long! Keep the spirit alive. Wear your hats and show the baseball hat punks what a real hat looks like! ;)

I had always thought Chris LeDoux wrote this, but, after finding this, decided to double check that fact. Some of the sources seem to say Sharon Vaughn and Sharon Rice actually wrote it. Boy, it shouldn't be so hard to find that stuff out - a case of the information excesses, out there, colliding counterproductively along about now. Well I know LeDoux wrote a bunch of cowboy tunes while on the rodeo circuit, & he and his dad had their own label, resisting Nashville most of his music career.HowCool

This is great. I wonder if Chris LeDoux ever was filmed playing it. I've seen some not bad other things of Chris on you tube but haven't ran across him playing this particular song yet. The other things of LeDoux (who wrote this song) are mostly from a tour when he was taking sort of a Garth (loud band and fireworks) approach to the industry. I read that he eluded a lot of commercial stuff, though, for years - that's the real admirable phase of it. Willie does that real rodeo man's song justice.
