Brings back memories of taping with Ames tools in the 80's. Lots of fun but the pay sucks..

i thik he is pretty good at using the bazooka. im almost as fast as he is. but my cousin is 2x faster than him tho.. i remember that i saw him once taping up a house and there were 4 people behind him..waping the tapes. we use 8" knives to wipe

The edges that the boxes are leaving is due to the fact that the blade on the box has slid out of position. Either really worn out shoes or just loose--sometimes tends to happen while the blade is being broken in. I've found that if you take your six inch knife and tap the blade on the edge it will reposition it for you. Just a thought. My preference is automatic tools all the way. Particularly the Columbia--no offense to the Northstar guys.

Since you were nice, I'll admit you can't beat the production you get with the new machines and I"ve met a couple guys who can use them in away that leaves me in awe the sad truth where I live is that anyone who picks one up think's he's a taper. It takes years to learn to use the machines or do it by hand both have their place, there is no place for hacks though as long as some one has pride in their work and it's quality I have no care how they did it.

I know... The true is... The tools make you a faster finisher. You still have to use hand tools. Most of the work is put out quick and you just bearly touch up after. The edges... Hummm. I don't have that problem. A brand new box blade leaves a lettle in the first runs... It gets better as it goes. You shold try the tools. You would be surprised of the result. It really works.

I know they've been around , thing is anyone who use's them does it by hand when it really counts. seriouisly have you seen the edges that boxes and corner boxes leave. There's some great products out there all kinds of bead and metal studs plaster mouldings , that stuff's great, but you can't finish a butt joint with a box and if you can I've never seen anyone float it out what if you need to go five feet so the counter fits or the stairs look right , is there a new tool that does that??

by hand is the only way !!!! no machine can take the place of a true craftsman hawk and trowel
