my father was a ranger i was a ranger and i can only hope my son will be one someday. he is six and already sings the airborne ranger song. unless you have worn the beret there is no way you can know the pride that comes with earning it.

Special Forces do NOT recruit off the street! They use snitches, pay for information. They are not your average person!

i know he sang and wrote the song, but that performance was actually lip- synced, plenty of times his voice hits a high note, but his lips don't move appropriately, at the end you'll see it.........and who ever said the last verse is propaganda is a fucking idiot who needs a god damned dictionary, hes a green beret, stupid :\
Orvellrednbacer (October 12, 2008 at 2:55 pm)
No offense and all but it was not propaganda.
He wanted his son to be a Green Beret.
Being a Green Beret you will find that you appreciate life and family more.
Here is there moto "You have not lived until you have almost died."

the last verse of that song is such blatent propaganda that it dishonours the american troops that have been lost, thats my opinion of this song and sorry if it offends but there u go

Barry Sadler was believed to have been assasinated in Guatemala in 1989. Sadler was a talented singer/writer. His reputation in SF was less than sterling. The song is used to awake the students in the morning at the begining of the course. From time to time SF does directly recruit off the street, but generally you must have a GT Score of 110, DLAB Language Test Score of 89?, be E5/SGT, SECRET Security Clearance and be jump qualified or on orders for jump school.

rparker0 (October 11, 2008 at 5:03 am)
You will. You must be Airborne and a seargent to enlist in the Beret.
daddyboobear (October 10, 2008 at 2:39 pm)
You have to gain a rank of Sgt. before you can be a Green Beret, so you won't be able to go straight in. |
