A propellor is basicly several wings that spin around. The surface of the blades (wings) is curved so that water moves faster along the bottom then the top so the water gets sucked through it.
A curving body basicly becomes the wing and cycles backwards and forwards, increasing and decreasing the surface on either side.
Its far more efficient.
Also, the entire body can move a larger volume of water then a single propellor ever could. The body basicly is one massive propulsion system.
