Actually, its not Laurie Allan. There were somthing like three or four different drummers in Gong at different times from 70 to 72 (Allan being one) so it can be rather confusing. However, I am completely 100% possitive that this is Mac Poole.

Yes, sorry. I was very drunk when I posted that. I meant, of course, Hatfield and The North, and Camembert Electrique. He was excellent in 1990 at the Central Studios "Bedrock" recordings when I saw him. He bought me a pint and took me back stage for a chat in Leeds too. Told me about the photo shoots in France for the Camembert LP. Apparantly, they were to turn up dressed bizarrely, and Pip wore his wife's clothes, only to find the rest wearing hippy gear, and taking the piss.

mr. pyle was never in Soft Machine or Caravan or "early" Gong, but was in Hatfield and the North and National Health. this could be Laurie Allan.

Are you sure that's Peter Pyle? It doesn't look like him, if it is. Poor bugger. He was excellent in Soft Machine, and Caravan, and early gong, but was a very mixed up man at the 25th gong anniversary in 94.. messing up big time. Must have been part of his illness which remains secretive. (Pierre Moerlen scarily similar circumstances!) Daevid and Gilli will probably live on for a long long time yet! :)

WOW! what a great video what more can I say. I played drums once for a band from Cal that was on tour in NYC called Cyoakha grace A this sounds like part of one of the james we did, This is Dam!!good stuff wish there were more video to it.
