I've never heard of that. Wal-Mart is in every state and I know at will firing is against the law. Especially if the person is disabled. That loophole for Wal-Mart needs to be closed.
I'll see what I can do. ;)

Oh btw, medical/dental benefits are included for employees, and the discount extends into the optical dept of WM, which means that the avg WM employee is making over min wage with full benefits. WOW WM IS EVIL!
KimeraStorm (October 5, 2008 at 4:12 pm)
Actually they do. Most states practice 'at will' employment which means that if you agree to the conditions of employment, (as long as they do not break federal, state or local laws) and then breech your agreement, not only do you forfeit your job, but you forfeit any right to unemployment benefits.
As companies go WM is pretty cool. Just dont try starting a union there. Which, given that conditions in WM are usually better than they are in union shops, its a non issue.

We are a free society, for the most part.
Wal-Mart doesn't have the right to tell people they can't try to start a Union.
That's illegal.

Admittedly Walmart did do that thing about the lady who feel or was in an accident they did try to screw over
but I'm gonna apply today
yay Walmart

Guess it depends on the management at the particular store.

Hmm working for about 10$ an hour at walmar with a 10% discount off the top (standard employee benefit) at any walmart/sams club store... and that includes the optical and pharmacy and any other specialty dept in the store. Gee a really bad deal. */sarcasam*

Wal-Mart is an expressly non union store.
One of the conditions of employment is to agree not to attempt to start a union. They do give reasonable benefits and will work with employees much like unionized shops do so it all evens out.

As true as this is, every company will follow simmilar practices.
True story, I also worked for wal-mart, and when the store manager found out that I was routinely staying well past my sign out time, and/or arriving long before my sign in time (I had to get rides to work from a housemate since I hadnt gotten my liscence yet) he made it known that I was allowed to earn extra time by helping out in other departments during the run-up to the holidays.
