Hydrogen can only have 1 bond, so how would you get HHO without using some sort of nuclear chemistry....Brown's Gas (Oxyhydrogen) is not HHO, technically it is a mixture of H2 and O2 gases, typically in a 2:1 molar ratio.

wouldn't HHO be water?

what are the electrical running cost for it? Compared with cubes gas it produces? What did you pay for it? everyone keeps going on about the water, but not the power staion making the electricity
TheRaged (October 9, 2008 at 5:52 pm)
The enthalpy of formation for carbon dioxide is around 400 kilojoules per mole. By comparison that of water is about 240 kilojoules per mole of water formed. The heat of an oxyhydrogen (name since early 19th century) torch is around 2800C, whereas an oxyacetylene setup can reach 3500-3800C. Oxyacetylene torches produce considerably more heat and energy for far less fuel since two moles of hydrogen are needed vs 1 of carbon in combustion. This thing is not news and it's not revolutionary.

To the rest of you who have a problem with calling this gas HHO, does it really matter? When you split the water molecule with electrolysis you get hydrogen gas and oxygen gas. I remember doing this as a kid in my 7th grade science class in the 70s. We collected the gases separately the experiment made twice as much Hydrogen than Oxygen so mixing these to gases would give you a gas that is 2 parts Hydrogen (HH) and one part Oxygen (O). Therefore calling this gas HHO is in no way incorrect.

Question for TheRaged, doesn't burning HHO or whatever you want to call it release energy in the form of heat? And as for your assertions that it does not burn as hot as an oxy-acetylene setup please post your data. I'm curious as to how hot hydrogen and oxygen gas (HHO) does burn.
TheRaged (October 8, 2008 at 8:56 pm)
HHO? No such thing. You could call it a hydrogen-oxygen blend. Also, this gas generator doesn't do jack shit for anyone wanting to actually get energy out of their water. No, you're not going to run a car economically with this. Also, no, the flame is not as hot as an oxy-acetylene setup. There aren't as many joules of energy in the hydrogen bonds as there are in carbon ones.

Extreme HHO-com has nice custom built 30 amp Pulse Width Modulators for controlling these cells.

there are many automobile companies, if not *most* of them creating Hydrogen/Hybrid, ALl Hyrdrogen, and "Hydrogen CELL" (Hydrogen on demand) Hybrids... google it, you will find BMW has one already.. ford, and a few others. It's coming, but it will cost.. just make your own, like many* have already, instructions are all over the net, youtube, google, .... EHOW(dot)com is great for clear instructuons on making all of this.. and more. Cheers, X
