Alan Watts is saying that people shouldn't see life as a linear path toward some abstract goal (heaven, money, etc.) and they should make what they can of the life they live here on earth. It's the exact same with Nietzsche's Eternal Occurrence: life is cyclic (not linear) and one should shape one's life goals to reflect it, ultimately becoming an übermensch.
Seems similar to me.

One of the greatest jokes played on the enslaved, is the promise of a better and more prosperous future. Put your money into a pension or bank for when you retire. But when you retire, you are invariably to f--ked to take advantage and thats IF some crook hasn't destroyed your pension. Even then its paid as an annuity with nothing residual at your death.
