"Duane Allman was a race traitor and a nigger lover for playing on this" - that is the most ridiculous and ignorant comment I've ever read on this site. First off, Duane was a starving musician when he played on this. He wasn't famous yet with the Allman Brothers and Clapton. So he had to play on anything he could get, and black records were selling well back then. And who cares, it was white people buying black records anyway so the money was from whites, not tainted at all!

I lived and loved Janis, Jimi and the Allman Brothers Band.
Wilson Pickett was incredible live and we travel far and wide to take in his shows.
Brilliant and magical- we have been truly blessed with their music. Thanks for this beautiful tapestry of Wilson, Duane and the Allman Brothers Band.

Duane is incredibly underrated as an ordinary guitarist. Everyone talks about his slide playing (and rightfully so), but the some of the stuff he played with his fingers was straight up transcendent.

During this era Duane was mostly using a Hybrid Fender that had a Telecaster body and Stratocaster neck.

I don't think you understand analogies... But I think their both about equal. Still behind Jimi and as musicians, not guitarist, a bit behind Coltrane. |
