Thanks for this info. So I guess the best upgrade possible would be a faster SSD. I found this video, so they do exist: /watch?v=Uy8ZRoGbCxE (he tests the faster SSD @ 19:40)

It's at the end of the video.

The SD expansion slot is much SLOWER. Your better off sticking with the SSD. I asked this question on the EEE user forum, and that is what they told me.

It took me hours to switch my 701 from Linux to XP SP3, so I think I'll stick with the full install I have. But thanks anyway. A larger OS isn't so bad given that I have the 8GB model. Regardless, the SSD's read/write speed is the #1 system blemish. Question: do you know how fast the read/write speed is to the SD expansion slot? I can't decide if I should buy a fast 16GB SSD, or buy the fastest 16GB SD card I can find. But SD card speed is useless if the system's transfer speed is slow.

It's very small, great for the EEE PC. It ran so good on my EEE that I put it on my desktop and it's just amazing now. If you need a link or any questions, give me an e-mail. I'd be more then happy to help you out.

what's the advantage of the nlited version? smaller, so less drive space? does it run apps any faster? I loaded my eeepc 701sd (8GB) with a full WinXP SP3 install. I'm happy with it overall but app loading and switching is annoyingly slow. My guess is the SSD is the weak link here (13Mbps max speed).

i have a nlited windows xp I got off the pirate bay. It uses 27mg of memory and is 215mg install. It's very nice , i put it on my two home pcs also. search: eee' on pirate bay and you'll find it, if you'd like p.s. huge fan of the trance music, more of a dance guy myself
