Women percussionists are not given the credit they deserve- Karen Carpenter, Sheila E just to name a few.

it's too bad that their agent felt that Karen was to "fat" and that's what started her downhill slide. she should've stood her ground and stayed behind the drums... I believe she would've still been alive today!

Wrong, it was Anorexia. It weakened her heart.

Karen suffered from Bulemia the effects of which weakened her heart causing her death.

levon helm said it was easier to sing while playing drums , because " you knew where the holes were" .

I had never seen her playing and always heard jokes about her, but now I can see she was an excellent player.

I'm quite sure Phil is a technically more proficient drummer than Karen ever was,but he's had a lot more time at it.

She died in 1983 of ANOREXIA NERVOSA.
