I always assume the children and beautiful represent innocence, the old decaying house represent and tossing off necklace represent lost innocences.
It seems the teen girl lost her virginity to the young man who carelessly left/dump her afterwards.
Faith is reminiscing it all, and pretty much singing this song to the young stud who left her high and dry (and pretty much probably don't even remember who she is)after she gave him something precious.
That is my humble opinion. :)

the couple is I'm guessing the sad part the chilrden bring in the happiness(the color) the couple is the "cry" I'm guesing since the girl is wet...like Faith. and the rain.
