I would like Obama, but he can't make up his mind with big decisions, and all of the other world leaders are going to tear him apart. Not quite president material, but would make an exellent Govorner. the only thing he has is his ability to captivate a crowd.

Yep, it's live vocals. Certainly the vocals are NOT the same as the album version, and as this is March 3, 1970, there weren't a whole lot of different recorded versions around yet.

Lip-sync? Elton is the real McCoy. One of the very few singers with enough talent & skill to be able to actually sound better live than on disk, usually it's the other way around! & these days most singers cant sing live at all they are so bad.
